That’s a fair question and is one that we get asked quite a lot at UK Screeds. As long-time installers of underfloor heating we are obviously biased, but for good reason, so we will take a little time to explain why you should consider it.
Back in the day, 60 or 70 years ago and further, most homes were heated using wood and coal which was burned in a fireplace in the room, the smoke ascending into the sky through a chimney. This was then replaced with a radiator system which used water heated and pumped through pipes to the radiators in a room. This was a lot more efficient and meant that you didn’t have a coalman delivering coal in half hundredweight sacks that you then had to store in a coal cellar.
A radiator system is a lot cleaner, and easier to warm the room because you can also control the temperature. However, it has its’ disadvantages, not the least of which is that you have to have a radiator – or even two or three – in the room, which takes up space. Radiators are not exactly pretty either.
However, time has passed, and it is now a given that radiators are on their way out, having been overtaken by underfloor heating.
Underfloor heating in Nottinghamshire has many benefits, one of which is that you can’t see it – because it is buried under the floor surface. So, it takes up no space in the room itself whatsoever.
The Room Is Heated Evenly
But apart from the aesthetics, underfloor heating is far superior to a radiator system because it heats the room evenly. The underfloor heating we install at UK Screeds works by using a heat source to warm water which is then pumped through a tube system under the floor. This covers the whole room, and one of the effects is that the room is heated absolutely evenly. With a radiator system, the room can never be heated evenly, so you have warm spots and cold spots.
However, that is not the biggest advantage of underfloor heating in Nottinghamshire. That prize goes to the cost of the heating. Compared with a radiator system, underfloor heating is far more energy efficient and will save a small fortune on heating bills once installed.
It is also important to use the correct type of screed to cover the heating tubes, and that means the liquid screed that we provide, as opposed to a traditional sand and cement screed. Call us on 01865 660026 or email info@ukscreedsltd.co.uk to learn more.
