At UK Screeds there are some requirements that are necessary before we actually install underfloor heating and/or a screed on a project.

To begin with, the building should be weathertight, so the roof needs to be in place and the windows and doors fitted. If the windows and doors have not yet been fitted, at the very least they need covering with clear polythene. The subfloor surface needs to be clean and free of debris.

More and more today, modern homes are being constructed with underfloor heating built-in. Underfloor heating used to be thought of as only for higher-end properties, but the fact is that in this age of environmental awareness, underfloor heating has a lot going for it.

When constructing any new building, there are many vital aspects that need to be considered and handled correctly if the building is to be a success. One of these is the flooring because that is what takes all the foot traffic – and in some buildings such as a warehouse, for example, motorised traffic, such as forklift trucks, as well.

Liquid anhydrite screeds such as the ones we install at UK Screeds have many benefits compared with traditional sand and cement screeds, especially when used in conjunction with underfloor heating. Not the least of these is that when we apply the screed it is in liquid form and is as near as possible a self-levelling compound in Bristol – or wherever the contract is being carried out.
