It may seem a rather obvious comment, but when it comes to constructing the flooring in a building you naturally want it to be as flat and level as humanly possible. That is, unless it is in a wet room when you need the floor to be sloping. Even so, you want the floor surface to be smooth and even.

When constructing or refurbishing a building in London there are many factors to take into consideration. The walls, the floor, the roof, all need to be perfect so that it can be used as intended and without any issues.

If you are constructing a building in Manchester, or for that matter anywhere else, it may well be that you are including underfloor heating. This has so many advantages over and above a radiator system that it is hard to know where to begin. Suffice it to say that, compared to underfloor heating, radiators are out of date – so “last century”.

When constructing a building you need to have a screed covering the subfloor so that the final flooring, whatever it may be, is as flat and level as possible. The traditional type of screed has long been a sand and cement screed in London, but today more and more people are opting for a liquid screed instead.

This is a fair question, because if you are engaged in any sort of building project or if you are installing underfloor heating in an existing building, you will need a screed, so it is a good idea to understand the differences.

If you are going to install underfloor heating, whether as a new project or in an existing building, it will need a screed to cover the system and produce a level surface on which to lay the final floor surface, whatever that may be.
